WHAT IT DEMANDS
Seven stages · the psalm · Lectio · the six in your back pocket
The fixed elements are Prayer, the Word, and Check-Ins. Everything else flexes. Times below are the two-hour shape. Adjust your hacks to the hour you meet.
Trail Guide: know the territory, know how long you have, and make the transitions on purpose.
Motivator: cast the vision, and get the quiet man his chance to speak.
Traffic Cop: keep the loud man from taking the room, and pull the conversation back when it wanders.
Open fellowship and getting caught up. Drinks, greetings, light banter. Nobody looks left out. Everyone has a seat.
If men are talking, let it run. Do not interrupt real conversation to start the “programme.” If a man is quiet, go get him: How are you doing? What’s new? And introduce the newcomer: Have you met so-and-so?
Open with the prayer to the Holy Spirit. Say what tonight is for. Short, sweet, deep. Then lay out the working agreements.

Inferno is an apostolate of friendship. The Pledge says what we are about: Prayer, Friendship, Evangelization. We are here to encounter God through His Word (John 1:1), and to get ourselves and our families to heaven. Tonight: prayerful Lectio, check in with each other, and one micro-challenge we give ourselves.
Nobody leaves a complete stranger. Under a minute each.
Give the instruction, then model it yourself first. If there are newcomers, cover the basics: name, married or not, how many kids and their ages, home parish, what you do.
Pray the psalm back and forth. This is the door from free chat into prayer.

Split the room in half with a strong reader on each side, and say plainly who goes first.
If you have twelve or more men, split into two groups here, a leader with each, and tell them to come back for the close.
Divine reading. Two men read this Sunday’s Gospel aloud. Then three minutes of silence. It is prayer, so the silence is sacred, not awkward. Break it with one question:
What jumped out to you?
Pick your two readers before you start, and tell the room the silence is coming so nobody panics in it. When men comment, keep it on the ground. Do not be so heavenly minded you are no earthly good. Relate it to a life.
Back-pocket only. The Gospel leads; these are for when it stalls.
To be known and loved as we really are. Give the room a format, High, Low, Grow: what is going well, what is not, and what is the next step the Holy Spirit is asking of you.

Be authentic and go first. The room will only go as deep as you did. Name your own low before you ask for theirs.

THREE TO CARRY
Tell the brother who asked.
Pick it up tonight.
You are not the only man who stopped. You are in the majority, and most of them want back in. What follows is the whole thing, start to finish, so that not knowing how is never the reason again.
WHY NOT JUST TELL GOD
For the everyday stuff He forgives a hundred ways. For anything that broke the thing between you and Him, this is the way He left. Not one option among several. The ordinary one.
God does the forgiving. Nobody else can, and nobody else claims to. He decided to do it through a man with a voice, so you would know the day it happened. Alone in your truck you can be sorry. You cannot be told.
And real sorrow, out of love for Him, meaning fully to get to Confession, is not left waiting for Saturday. But meaning to get there is part of it. That is not a way around the room. It is the way in.

Read the back half again. He gave them the power to hold sins back too, and nobody can hold back what he was never told. That is why it is out loud.
IT HAS BEEN YEARS
You think he has not heard yours. He has, and worse, and last week.
You do not need to remember how. Sit down and say: Father, it has been twenty years and I do not know how to do this. That is exactly the right way to start. He takes it from there, one question at a time, and he will make sure you get it all out.
Go to any parish you like. Nobody has to know your face. The screen is always there, and nobody can make you come out from behind it. Most parishes will also sit face to face if you ask.
What you say in that room stays in that room. A priest cannot repeat one word of it to anyone, for any reason, ever. Not to your wife, not to your bishop, not in a courtroom. Not even after you are dead.
The seal binds him, not you. If someone is getting hurt, say it in the room and then say it outside the room too: to her, to a doctor, to the police. Tell the priest that is what you are going to do. He will help you do it. The seal protects the room. It was never a place to park something.
You walk out with your sins forgiven. Not managed. Gone.
What is not gone is what you owe. If you took it, give it back. If you lied about a man, tell the men you lied to. Forgiven is not settled up, and he will tell you the same.
THE SAME SIN AGAIN
You have brought this one before. Twice, or fifty times. Walking back in with the same thing does not make you a fraud.
A man who keeps coming back with the same wound is not failing at Confession. He is doing the one thing that keeps a man in the fight, which is refusing to fight it alone.
The priest is not keeping a tally. Put yours down. The Pledge said so first.

One thing he does need. Not a promise that you will never fall again. Just that today you want to be done with it. Wanting out is the whole ask.
Go back. Say the same thing. Say it as many times as it takes.
If the same thing keeps winning, that is not only a Confession matter. Tell the priest, and tell one brother, and get whatever help a man would get for anything else this stubborn.
THE WORDS
Sit or kneel. He greets you and makes the Sign of the Cross. Cross yourself with him.
Say it: Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been [how long] since my last confession.
Tell him your sins. Plainly. The serious ones by name, and how many times, near enough. No speeches, and do not explain who else was at fault. Forget one and it is still forgiven; bring it next time. The only thing that does not work is deciding to keep one back.
Finish with: For these and all the sins of my past life, I am sorry. He will talk to you, and he may read you a line of Scripture. Then he gives you a penance. Hold on to it.
He asks for your act of contrition. If it is gone from you, say so and be sorry out loud in your own words. That counts.
He absolves you. He raises his hand, and it ends: I absolve you from your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. That is the second it is done, whether you feel anything or not. Answer Amen.
He says: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. You answer: His mercy endures for ever. Then he sends you out. That is the end.
Do your penance. Prayers, before you leave the building. A call or a debt, today. Cannot do it, or do not understand it? Say so right there and he gives you another. Forget it and you are still forgiven. Do it when you remember.
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell; but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
If that one will not come, this one is in the book and it is enough: Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
WHAT TO BRING
A mirror, not a charge sheet. Read it slowly. What is not your life, skip. Where it catches, that is the thing to say. You do not have to bring all of it, and what you forget is forgiven too.
Two kinds, because men ask. Some sin breaks the thing with God. Some damages it. For the breaking kind, three things have to be true at once: it was serious, you knew it, and you chose it anyway. If one is missing, it is the other kind.
Bring both. Only the first kind has to be there.
When did I last pray when I did not want anything? Have I skipped Mass on a Sunday or a holy day of obligation because I did not feel like going? Sick, or holding the house together for someone, is not what this asks. Have I decided God was finished with me, and stayed away on purpose? Have I gone up for Communion when I knew I should have come here first?
Has anyone in this house ever been afraid of me? My hands, my voice, my driving. Have I been faithful in what I look at as well as in what I do? Have I let her carry alone what was mine to carry? Have we shut the door on more children without ever putting it in front of God?
When did I last give one of them my whole attention, phone down? Have I been angry at them for something that was not theirs? Have I left the faith for someone else to hand them? If they are grown: when did I last say one true thing to them about God?
Where has appetite been running me: drink, food, the phone? Pornography: what I look at when nobody is up. Say that one plainly in there. He has heard it from better men than us. Have I settled for calling it stress?
However I spend my day, paid or not: have I shaded the truth for a client, a boss, a number, or to keep the peace? Have I taken credit that was another man’s? If men answer to me, have I treated them as costs? Have I taken hours from my own house and called it providing when it was something else?
Have I gone quiet on a man who needed me? Have I let a brother carry something alone because asking was awkward? Have I run a man down when he could not answer? Have I lied to stay comfortable?
WHAT THIS APP WILL NOT DO
It will not tell you whether something was mortal or venial, whether you may receive Communion, or what a divorce or a second marriage means for you. Not out of caution. Because it is a phone, and those questions belong to a priest who can look at you while you ask them.
Take every one of them into the room in exactly these words: Father, I am not sure about this. That is a complete and honest place to start.
FIND ONE THIS WEEK
Saturday afternoon before the vigil Mass, at most parishes. Many also hear them in the half hour before a weekday Mass. Times move, so check the parish site or call the office.
If you want it sooner than the schedule allows, call and ask. You are not imposing: a parish priest is bound to make time for a man who asks. They say yes.
The Church asks every man for this at least once a year. That is the floor, not the target.
CANNOT GET THERE
Call the parish office and ask for a priest to come to the house or the hospital. Confession, Anointing and Communion all travel. This is ordinary work for him, not a favor. Anyone can make the call for you.
Do not wait for it to be an emergency.

The week’s one act, every time he checks the time.
Inferno builds men of prayer, men committed to daily conversation and contemplation with the God of the universe.
It is the first of the three pillars, before friendship and before evangelization, because the other two run dry without it. It is also the one weapon you already have on you, right now, that no one can take.
THE DAILY RULE
The Inferno Pledge asks three things of a man, every month of the year:
PRAY: ten, twenty or thirty minutes, every day.
MEET: one bro, one Christ-centred conversation, every month.
INVITE: one man to a Christian gathering, every month.
Humility, authentic masculinity and discipline are the virtues underneath all three.
LECTIO DIVINA
Latin for divine reading. Fifteen minutes. This is how Inferno prays Scripture, alone and at the table.
This is not study. You are not mining the text for information or getting ready to have an opinion about it. You are letting God say one thing to you today, and then answering Him.
Read the passage slowly, out loud if you can. Then read it again. Do not rush to make it mean something.
One word or line will catch. Stay on it. Turn it over. Why that one, today, for you? Do not go hunting for a better one.
Now talk back. Plainly, in your own words, about your own life. This is the part most men skip, and it is the part that makes it prayer instead of reading.
Stop talking. Sit in it. Silence is not dead air. It is the part where He gets a word in. Give it three minutes before you decide nothing is happening.
Walk out with one thing. Not a feeling. An act. That is the whole point of the CHARGE at the end of a COR meeting.
When your COR prays it together: two men read the passage aloud, then the room sits in silence for three full minutes. Tell them it is coming so nobody panics in it. Silence is sacred, not awkward. Break it with one question: What jumped out to you?

It all starts with prayer. That is Inferno’s first pillar, not a nicety. Take it to the Sacred Heart and ask Him for three names. Write down the men He gives you.
GET YOUR THREE
You do not need twelve men. You need three brothers. That is the CLAN rung of the ladder, and every COR on the Front Range started there. Text the three names tonight. Say it plain: a table, once a week, for men who want to be saints.
CALL IT IN
Email mission@infernomen.com with the subject line “Inferno COR Group”. Inferno will put a seasoned COR leader alongside you for your first weeks. You are not inventing this alone.
SET THE TABLE
Pick a rhythm the standing tables already prove out: weekly or every other week, Tuesday or Thursday evening, Friday or Saturday morning. A parish hall, a kitchen, a garage. Sixty to ninety minutes. Same time, same place. Consistency is what makes it a table and not an event.
KEEP IT C-O-R
Christ Centered and Confidential: what is said at the table stays at the table, and that line is load-bearing. Orante: it is prayed, not just discussed. Relational: brothers, not attendance. Hold those three and the rest can flex.
RUN THE FIRST MEETING OFF THIS APP

A COR is not a program you attend. It is a table you set: same men, same hour, same room, week after week, until the men around it would notice if you were missing.
You do not need twelve. Start with three. Christ Centered and Confidential, Orante, Relational. Hold those and the rest can flex.

Six men carry a casket. Ask yourself, plainly, whether you could name six who would carry yours, and who would be honoured to. Most men can name two or three. That gap is not a verdict on you. It is your mission for the next year.
Nothing to fill in here. Carry the question, not a checklist. Then go set the table.
